While utility trailers are exceptionally durable machines, sooner or later one of your model’s many important parts or components will need to be replaced. However, trailer maintenance is very simple, and a majority of repairs and installations can be done from the comfort of your garage! To ensure you have the right parts on hand to quickly fix your trailer when a part breaks down, be sure to read our list below.

Tire

If you’ve ever had to replace a flat tire on your car, you know how helpful a spare can be. Not only do they keep you from ending up stuck on the side of the road, but they allow you enough time to quickly drive to your nearest shop to purchase a replacement. Despite how handy spares can be, few people purchase or carry one for their utility trailer. To ensure you and your cargo don’t end up stranded, we strongly advise purchasing a spare for your trailer.

Electrical Parts

While most utility trailers don’t have many electrical components, the ones that are present are often incredibly important. For example, your brake lights. If these were to go out, it would only be a matter of time before a car accident occurred. As a result, we strongly recommend purchasing a few replacement bulbs for your trailer’s lights as well as a backup wiring harness. These can easily be stored in your tow vehicle, and quickly replaced with minimal tools in case your lights were to go out suddenly.

Leaf Springs

Your utility trailer’s leaf springs have a lot to do with your equipment’s suspension and the overall feel of its ride. Without your leaf springs, your cargo would be jostled with every small bump in the road, increasing the likelihood that it could be damaged. While leaf springs are quite durable, they can easily be broken if you overload your trailer with too much cargo. As a result, we recommend always having a few replacements on hand.
